Canyon Velo was well represented last weekend [editor’s note: Nov 10] in the Tour de Foothills Century.
This ride is challenging and features 8,405 ft. of climbing over 102 miles. GMR is one of the featured climbs but not the only one obviously… There were 151 male finishers. Club Members George Tomasich, David Stanton, Justin Corea, Justin Dobis, Chris Berstrom, and Bob Stipp participated as well as a potential new member Roger Reyes (hope I got everyone)
A brief assessment by one of the riders stated the following:
“Thanks guys for a great time on the road! The Justin duo did a fantastic job pulling the group all the way up to GMR starting line. Dave Stanton’s memorable “first place” in his age cat riding with a broken front derailleur mechanism….well done Dave!”
CV results of note included:
1st place 50-59 age group and 12th place overall finish for Dave Stanton
7th place overall finish and 40-49 age group 2nd place finish for George Tomasich
7th place age 19-29 group finish and 13th overall finish for Justin Corea
9th place 30-39 age group finish and top 30 overall finish for Justin Dobis
Chris Berstrom also had a very good “Chip Start Time” (whatever that means)the chip time was within five minutes of George Tomasich but Chris finished in the middle of the 40 – 49 age group with his finish time. Again not sure of how the timing thing works in this race.
