Nov. 9 – CV Track Day

Canyon Velo Track (Velodrome) Day – November 9, 2024

Have you thought about learning track cycling but don’t know how to get started? Canyon Velo is partnering with the Velo Sports Center (LA Velodrome) to host an introductory track clinic for up to 25 Canyon Velo members.  This 3 1/2 hour session will introduce the basics of riding on an indoor banked wooden track with a fixed gear track bike.

DATE: Saturday, November 9, 2024
TIME: 2:30 – 6:00 PM (arrive promptly at 2:30 to sign in and have time to setup the bike)
LOCATION: Velo Sports Center at Dignity Health Sports Park, 18400 Avalon Blvd, Carson CA 90746 (on the campus of Cal State Dominquez Hills)

DESCRIPTION: This introductory session is an opportunity for CV members who are not track certified to try their hand at riding the velodrome. Riders will receive safety and skill instruction, then get on the track. Be aware that completing the introductory session does not certify a rider to ride any other sessions at the velodrome.

COST: Each rider will pay the club $25 and the club will cover the balance of the costs.

PAPERWORK: Each rider will need to complete a waiver to ride on the track. Print and complete this VSC Waiver, email Ed Kissee (sixkissees@gmail.com) to sign up (space is limited to 25 riders).

PARKING: Enter Dignity Health Sports Park off of Avalon Blvd, then proceed to Parking Lot 16. There is no charge for cyclists parking in Lot 16.

WHAT YOU NEED: Bring a cycling kit (CV kit preferred), your pedals (& tool), cycling shoes, helmet, nutrition (water bottle, etc.), a signed waiver and $25. Rental track bikes are included in the cost of the session. If you have a track bike (i.e. a fixed gear bike without brakes), be sure that it is in good working order with tires/wheels appropriate for a wooden banked track.
