Canyon Velo Mission Statement Presented/Discussed/It is posted on the club web site for your review…

Discussion of Saturday Ride Protocol /Options

Prompted by concerns expressed by multiple members

Brief History of the ride was presented…

New “wrinkle”…The Suvoy Cutoff a product of Short/Short safety concerns on Sand Canyon and Irvine Center… “Long/Short” has evolved over recent years as well … most recently as a result of our club time trial contingent needing to implement alternative routes and procedures to better meet their training needs… as a result most new members have not seen the “Traditional” El Toro option in action…

Observation… the “Traditional Script” was a good one for most non TT riders (see ride description on the club website)… Suggestion that non-TT CV members, who ride this option, revert to the “Traditional Script” to foster a more “cohesive” club ride culture especially for new members… another option may be to lengthen the “Suvoy Cutoff” option which has become a good ride alternative and is comprised of primarily CV members…

Safety concerns on the Saturday ride in general were also expressed…This has been an intermittent ongoing problem …There is no “light switch” solution… but we suggest that CV members remember that we do not have to follow the questionable decisions made by some of the “rainbow jerseys” from other clubs who think it is the Tour de France … when they attempt to take the pack into a dangerous situation … It is suggested that we let them ride away and say “good riddance” rather than reinforce and validate their behavior by running the light or chasing them …
