TdCure2015Canyon Velo’s 21st year participating in the Tour de Cure set a new club record for fund raising. Our team of ten riders raised $8,804 for the American Diabetes Association. This included $1,500 in matching funds from the club treasury. This placed us in 5th place in the Club/Organization Team category just behind Boy Scout Troup 860. The Major Motion cycling club was first with a total of $18,085. The top fund raising team overall was the Northrop Grumman corporate team (Team Skunk Works) with $34,046.

Congratulations to Christy Frazelle-Goodsel who was Canyon Velo’s top individual fundraiser ($2,407). We had three participants who achieved “Champion” status raising over $1,000: Christy, Paul Scaglion, and Rich Savitt.

Team Canyon Velo roster: Christy Frazelle-Goodsell, Paul Scaglion, Rich Savitt, Lisa and Danny Davisson, Ed Kissee, Wesley Kriddle, Billy Suvoy and Paul Leek.

In addition to participating and personally raising money, our members also contributed volunteer time in key positions that make the event possible and successful. These included Rich Savitt (Route Logistics Committee Chairman), Carl Moler and Sue Griesbach (Route Marking) and Ed Solomon (Day of Event Route Safety). Each of these volunteers should take pride in the event’s success and in the $613,000+ raised by its 1,500 participants.

Finally, thank you as well to Canyon Velo club members who made personal contributions in the name of our team members.

NOTE: as of this writing funds are still coming in and adding up. Final fund raising total for the event is expected to be between $700,000 and $800,000.
